Artigo 2 - "Como Funciona o Time Code, FS-CD Kit e o Código Fonte do Scratch Amp"

Vamos começar fazendo um resumo de como funciona o Time Code (Código de tempo gravado no vinyl do FS).O Kit do FS contém 3 discos, onde um lado é 45rpm (12:00 min) e o outro 33rpm (15:00 min), mas você pode encontrá-los separadamente a preços de discos normais, já estão inclusive cogitando uma versão em 10'' ou 7'' para transportá-la na própria maleta do notebook.Na realidade, se ouvirmos o conteúdo gravado nos discos, iremos perceber que nele existe um ruído contínuo, mas na verdade esse ruído é bem complexo. Vamos então decodificar isso aí: O processo é bastante funcional, existem 3 canais de ruídos diferentes, 2 deles em left e 1 em right.O canal de ruído no canal right informa a localização do disco, ou seja, o tempo decorrido (se está no começo ou no final do disco). Os ruídos do canal left "1" assobio e "2" (Pink noise, aquele barulho de TV fora do ar) informam a velocidade (Pitch e speed) e direção (Frente, reverso - back, forward).É importante nuca usar nunca a função "Master Tempo ou Key Correction" que alguns toca-discos possuem. Para quem é amante do CD, a Stanton desenvolveu um Kit de adaptação, composto de 2 CDs contendo 22 minutos de Time Code e um CD Amp, que nada mais é do que um adaptador para você ligar seu CD player no Scratch Amp. O Software também, por ser desenvolvido em Linux, deverá ter seu código aberto segundo a "GNU - General Public License" já que o criador do Linux ao contrário do Bill Gates, é contra o monopólio de informações.

O Final Scratch utiliza um vinil que possui uma sincronização de código de tempo, possibilitando a manipulação de arquivos de áudio localizados no hd do computador. O arquivo digital, então, pode ser manipulado para frente e para trás como no vinil. O sistema é uma interface que permite a comunicação entre o computador, mixer e pick ups. O áudio é produzido no computador.
